We are looking for a person to join our team to work on Research & Documentation
Apply if you are:
- Passionate about working on the environmental justice issues in the Himalayan region that lie within the Collective’s work
- Willing to commit a minimum of a year to the collective
- Living in or prepared to live in Himachal Pradesh on a basic honorarium
- Love traveling and engaging with the rural landscape and communities
- Enjoy working in a team and like to contribute to group processes
- At least 3 years of previous engagement with environmental and social issues
Research and Documentation work will involve working with the local communities on issues of resource rights and environmental justice using reflective, advocacy and action based research methods and processes.
Skills needed for this work are:
- Research and documentation experience on social and/or environmental justice issues
- Ease in interacting, engaging compassionately with diverse communities, listening to and learning from different perspectives/contexts
- Analytical skills with consciousness of power dynamics and marginalities at multiple levels
- Familiarity with Enviro-Legal and policy analysis
- Experience in qualitative, ethnographic methods of documentation/writing
- Communication and writing skills in both Hindi and English (speaking, reading and writing)
- A basic understanding of larger political economy of environmental-social justice issues and localised realities of these in the Himalaya
